Hiya!

I’m Lee, a creative working to integrate hospitality into joyful experiences of design.

I'm happiest making things that bring fresh ideas to life, hold real care for people and the planet, and turn everyday moments into experiences worth remembering.

My creative work and research explores how design can function as an agent of positive change. I seek to foster connections that celebrate empathy, simplicity, and moments of joy. I’m passionate about integrating hospitality and human-centered principles into delightful experiences of design work.

Currently, my research interests focus on creating intuitive, impactful solutions that address complex challenges while advocating for accessibility, sustainability, and equity. The endeavors into which I put my time and energy matter greatly to me, and I am striving to make a difference in the work I do. By integrating research with storytelling and design thinking, I aim to craft experiences that inspire joy and promote a more connected and inclusive world.

I speak at conferences and give lectures on using humor, making data more human, designing for delight, and finding creative ways to engage audiences. I also talk about processes, materials, accessibility, and community building.

I enjoy teaching learners of all ages about design. As an educator, I encourage students to solve problems effectively while maintaining honesty and integrity in their design solutions. Good design is empathic—it anticipates the emotional response of its audience and works through the design process with the interacting viewer in mind.

One of the ways I assist students in growing as designers is to provide challenging tasks to solve. The most difficult problems facing our world today can be ameliorated by the power of visual communication. I want students to understand they can be agents for change in their communities and their world. My intention in teaching is that students emerge from their experience as critically thinking, reflective, and compassionate leaders in design.
